Technopolis City of Athens presents the historical and cultural exhibition entitled GR80s.Greece in the Eighties at Technopolis, from 25 January until 12 March of 2017, with a parallel program of events at Onassis Cultural Centre and in collaboration with important national and international scientific and cultural institutions.

The 80s represent an idealized era, characterized by upward social mobility and prosperity, but they also symbolize the beginning of a long process that has lead to the current crisis. The aim of this event is not to create feelings of nostalgia for the past nor to point the finger at the supposed culprits — Rather, it is an effort to record and recreate a complex and many-faceted period of modern history, which has left its mark on the current generations and may well define the future ones. “Greece in the Eighties, Technopolis” will introduce visitors to the Greek ‘80s through a course of four thematic categories (politics, arts, lifestyle and technology) arranged within thirteen pavilions. Simultaneously, numerous events will take place throughout the duration of the exhibition. Namely, art exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, cultural happenings, scientific conferences and lectures, and educational workshops, for all kinds of social groups.

The 18 thematic categories, and their respective pavilions, are:

Politics:(a) From “Change” to “Catharsis”, (b) repression, violence and terrorism, (c) ideology, (d) gender, (e) the welfare state, (f) economy
