This section of the exhibition will present visitors with symbols and material goods typical of the "tribes" of the 80s: a variety of youth (and other), subcultures that established new, dynamic, confrontational yet volatile identities such as punks, heavy metal fans, bikers, sports club fans etc. This pavilion has been constructed on the basis of two questions posed around those «tribes». 

The first one is: “How did members of these groups perceived themselves?”. This section will include personal photos taken by music lovers and members of sports clubs, album covers, clothing and accessories, concert tickets, letters to specialist magazines, items derived from the archives / collections of official clubs, [eg, Hellenic Motorcyclists Club (LEMOT)] but also items kept by members of informal groups (eg heavy metal fans). This will act as a platform for these often inconspicuous collectives to shed some light on their history and its multi-faceted importance on the societal development of Athenian culture. 

The second question is “How were these collectives perceived by outsiders?”: This question will be answered through a collection of images, newspaper articles, TV reports, movie segments and more.

Leonidas Antonopoulos is a journalist specializing in culture and music. He is also the manager of “KOSMOS” radio station. He studied Political Sciences in Athens and SME Strategy in London where he acquired his Master’s degree. He has worked in numerous newspapers and magazines and has presented music and news shows on both radio and TV. He has served as program director at the “Athina 9.84” radio station. In 1997 he started working for the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) where, amongst other shows, he created and presented an award winning series of musical documentaries titled “Musicians of the world”. He was also the music consultant and artistic director for the “Sounds of the world” festival.
