Kostis Kornetis


Presentation of the feminist movement in Greece in the late 80s, in its institutional, governmental and radical versions. Discussion on reforms concerning gender, rights and family law. Emergence of the new gender identities being formed and the obstacles they encountered.

Kostis Kornetis was born in Thessaloniki, in 1975. He studied History and Political Sciences in Munich, London and Florence. He taught History at Brown University and at NYU’s Department of European and Mediterranean Studies from 2007 to 2015. He works as a researcher for the European UC3M-CONEX Marie Curie program, at the Carlos III Madrid University since 2015. He is a member of “Istorin” (History) magazine’s editorial team. He is also a member of the research team behind SonorCities. He has co-edited “Political Change-over. Greece in the edge of two centuries”, alongside Mano Avgeridi and Efi Gazi. (Themelio 2015, in Greek), and Gender and consumption in Southern Europe since the «long 1960s»”, alongside Eirini Kotsovili and Nikos Papadogiannis (Bloomsburry, 2016). His book “Children of the dictatorship, student resistance, cultural politics and the “longs 1960” in Greece (Berhahn 2013, Polis 2015, in Greek) was honoured with the “Edmund Keeley” award.
