Nikoleta Balothiari

Nikoleta Balothiari

Art Director
design@gr80s.gr

Nikoleta Balothiari was born in Ierapetra, Crete and lived a carefree childhood by the sea. Growing up, she wanted to talk about all the things she saw in a simple, insightful and aesthetically noble manner, so she studied Graphic and Web Publishing Design.

Since 2004, she has been travelling with her creative studio Skafandro and has been involved in a wide range of activities regarding Visual Communication. Through Skafandro (www.skafandro.gr) she envisages, interprets, and gives shape and color to the content of every project, in collaboration with a network consisting of developers, photographers and typographers. One of the most vital aspects of her work is designing a new visual language each time, and the audience involvement in it.

She has collaborated with the Ministry of Culture, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corinth, the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities, the Archaeological Institute of Aegean Studies, the Ministry of Agricultural Development, the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation, the Public Gas Corporation of Greece, Attiko Metro S.A., the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, museums, artists, various companies in Greece and abroad, and has worked as an Art Director in creative agencies in Athens.

She has also participated as an artist/performer/inventor in Monitor Fest, Hack the Book in the Onassis Cultural Center, Cyclehack, Monodrome in Athens Biennale, 48 Hour Film Project, Going Youth Festival and Bob Festival.

As a true to form designer, her office is located wherever her laptop (and her heart) is. Lately, she has been going about with Ai Wei Wei’s quote “The world is not changing if you don’t shoulder the burden of responsibility”.

Nikoleta Balothiari did the art direction and design of the exhibition “GR80s. Greece in the Eighties at Technopoli”, the concept and the final design of the communication material.
