HEAD OF THE INDUSTRIAL GAS MUSEUM/TECHNOPOLIS CITY OF ATHENS
Maria Florou studied History of Arts and Archaeology in Thessaloniki, Greece and she has an MA in Museum Studies, Leicester, UK.
In 2002 she first worked in educational museum programs in a university gallery, giving her an insight into the museum as an informal space for education and social activities. Later on she worked for Technopolis and the Departments of Visual Arts and Cultural Events. In 2011 she participated at the project of the implementation of the Industrial Gas Museum while she supervised the whole process. Today she holds the position of the Head of the Industrial Gas Museum. Since 2013 she participates in many study visits and conferences regarding the interpretation of cultural heritage, audience development and social inclusion for difficult audiences i.e. refugees, unemployed, children of migrants, etc.
